The Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo (IPVC) Student Support Services provides accommodation for students (national, foreign and alumni), as well as their families and friends, during the summer holidays. The Summer Residence is located in the historical center of Viana do Castelo and it’s available from 15th July until 15th September. The prices for this service starts at 10€/day.

This residence is located near the train and bus station and just 10-minute walk from the Praia Norte beach and 15 minutes by ferry boat from the Cabedelo beach.

The Summer Residence also provides free access to WI-FI. The Estação Viana shopping Center is just 100m away . Guests wishing to explore the 20 km long seaside walkway can rent one of the free bikes at the Viana Welcome Centre.

Popular sites include the Basilica of Santa Luzia and the The Gil Eannes (former portuguese hospital ship) as well as The municipal Library designed by Siza Vieira (renowned architect).
Viana is also known as the "Princess of Lima", a reference to the river with the same name, a charming title for this lovely city. It's coast line has some of the most beautiful beaches in the north of Portugal, and is now part of the portuguese "Parque Natural do Litoral Norte", a protected natural area along the coast line from Esposende in the south to Caminha and the mouth of the river Minho, near Spain.
