Additional Information

The Masters programme is held over a period of four semesters and consists of a total of 120 ECTS credits (European Credit Transfer System).

Successful completion of the course is dependent on regular attendance (80%) of contact sessions, meet all evaluation criteria on lecture subjects, presentations, MasterĀ“s thesis, and final examination before a board.

In the first two semesters, face-to-face classroom instruction (contact sessions) will take place in intensive four week sessions at IPVC, in the months of November 2010 and February 2011. After completing each intensive session, online learning (and no classroom contact hours) will be provided during the remainder of the semester. At the end of each semester (February 2011 and July 2011) students will make their presentations at IPVC

  • Students are required to have access to a computer, preferably a laptop, and the internet.

In the 3rd semester, students undertake a four week intensive face-to-face classroom instruction period, followed mostly with online learning, or opt for one of the following alternatives (subject to change)

  • Spend a semester at one of the UNWTO.TedQual institutions (final decision by the host institution);
  • Spend a semester at one of the European institutions with which IPVC has a bilateral agreement under the Socrates Programme (final decision by the host institution);
  • Intensive face-to-face classroom instruction followed by participation in one of UNWTO Programmes (UNWTO Exchange, UNWTO Volunteer, UNWTO Capacity, UNWTO.Strategy or UNWTO.Internship (final decision by the UNWTO);
  • Intensive face-to-face classroom instruction followed by cooperation with the Tourism Lab for Economic and Social Behavior Research (TesB) of the University of Illinois (final decision by the host institution);
  • Intensive face-to-face classroom instruction, followed by an internship in Portugal or abroad, possibly with an UNWTO affiliate member.
